Pune ranked No. 1 city in country in 'ease of living' rankings

PUNE: Among 111 cities in terms of "liveability" in the Ease of Living Index 2018 released by the ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) on Monday, Pune was ranked first. Besides Pune, three other cities in Maharashtra  - Navi Mumbai (2nd), Greater Mumbai (3rd) and Thane (6th) - finished in the first 10. Pimpri Chinchwad's ranking (69) has come as a surprise to many. Rampur in UP was at the bottom, followed by Kohima in Nagaland and Patna  . Bengaluru, which has seen congestion become a serious drawback, ranks 58 and Hyderabad 27.  Interestingly, PM Narendra Modi's constituency Varanasi ranked 33. West Bengal did not participate in the exercise. Final Bidder For Project Announced After Four-Month Wait Pune: The work on the elevated Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro corridor will begin by October. The project’s executing authority, the Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA), has announced the final bidder for the proposed project after a four-month wait — Tata Reality Infra Pvt Ltd (TRIL) and Siemens Project Ventures Joint Venture (JV). The project, set to cost Rs8,313 crore, is aimed at addressing the traffic woes faced by the nearly 2 lakh IT professionals who work at the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi. This will also be the first project in the country implemented under the Metro policy of 2017, which aims to lessen the financial burden on the Centre. “The Tata-Siemens JV company was shortlisted from a list of three. Hyperloop passenger trial track to be ready next year

Pune: The first phase of the 15-km  Hyperloop  track in Pune, from Balewadi to Gahunje, will serve as the testing track for passenger movement. Kiran Gitte, the commissioner of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), said a transactional advisor will be appointed within a fortnight and the track will be ready by next year. The advisor company would need to have prior experience in handline high-speed transport, as the PMRDA itself does not have the adequate know-how on the subject. The chosen firm would be required help with project structuring, finances as well as engaging in other parameters. It must also work closely with the Virgin  Hyperloop  team. Virgin  Hyperloop  One will fully fund the 15-km demonstration track, which will cost roughly ₹3,000 crore. The PMRDA will provide the required land. State approves ₹3,513cr for Purandar airport land deals Centre Too Expected To Allot Funds Nisha.Nambiar & Joy.Sengupta TNN Pune: The state government gave administrative and financial approval of Rs 3,513 crore for land acquisition for the Purandar airport on Wednesday. A GR issued by the general administrative department (GAD) said the state has approved the amount for acquiring about 2,376 hectares in Purandar. Of the amount, Rs 2,713 crore has been earmarked for land acquisition. The remaining is for other acquisitions. The GR said the amount would be given to Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), which would be the Special Planning Authority (SPA). Naval Kishore Ram, the Pune collector, said the next step would be the MADC’s proposal for land acquisition. “Once the MADC is appointed as the SPA, it can make a proposal for land acquisition. A separate GR, with survey numbers and the rehabilitation process, has to be issued,” he said. Suresh Kakani, CMD of MA
